Hurulu Eco Park, located in the North Central Province, offers visitors a glimpse into Sri Lankan culture, heritage, and natural beauty. Just outside Habarana, Hurulu National Park, part of the vast Hurulu Forest Reserve, is home to diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.
Located near Habarana, this largely unsung forest-and-scrub reserve attracts herds of wild elephants, alongside leopard, buffalo, monkeys, and exotic birds. With your entrance ticket in the bag, you’ll be free to travel independently to the gates to book your own safari.
Nearby are protected areas like Ritigala Strict Nature Reserve and Wasgamuwa National Park. These are home to Sri Lankan elephants, which can be seen on jeep safaris. Other endemic animals, such as the Sri Lankan leopard and jungle fowl, may also be spotted. There are four waterways that run through the park and their sources are streams that have sprung up and joined together. Some are connected to the Hurulu Wewa. Thus the park has been named Hurulu Eco Park as all wildlife here is sustained through these waters.
